THE MAIDEN VOYAGE- Monday, August 31st (Pandemic 2020)

Our maiden voyage was to find "Korman's Cove" (not sure of the name) which was across to the north and east side of the Indian Lake.  The suggestion was given by another "camper" Mark, who left the following day. He mentioned that he usually 'camps' on the other side where it is "state" grounds and no one inhabits except for camping.

We fished the whole cove- don't think we caught anything,  then decided to take the "trail" up to Baldface Mountain. I didn't make it all the way with John, but he did and took photos.  That is enough for me.  I realize I get out of breath more quickly than John. Down hill sure is a lot easier!

Did I mention what I thought of the Hornbeck canoe?  Meh.  I think it will take getting used to sitting somewhat "inside" the canoe rather than "on" the canoe.  But, the "light-ness" is the best feature and why hubby chose it.  For that reason- it's great.

The following day Tuesday- was drippy rain most of the day.  We explored Sprague Pond and decided to take canoe on Thursday sunrise for a morning on Sprague Pond. (Wednesday was already projected to be a rain-out.) It was a 3/10 mile hike from road to pond.  Hubby thought it was do-able and so we did!

Might I add at this point:  Sprague Pond is now Skunked Pond.

THE FISHING VACAY (1)

The Fishing Vacation

Hubby and I took off for our vacation on Indian Lake, in the Adirondack Mountains of northeastern New York State.

Hubby said I needed to get away and relax.  Besides the up and down of walking, driving and moving in general in mountains he provided just that.  I'm amazed at how quiet the forest really was.

We left Brick on Saturday, August 29th, at about 11:00 en route to catch the canoe manufacturer by 4pm-  Hornbeck Boats.  They are near Olmstedville NY and middle of nowhere!

Picked up boat and proceeded to nearby town of Schroon Lake.  (Scaroon, that is). Found a vacancy at Maple Leaf Motel where we stayed for the night.  We also picked some apples from a tree on site.  Noticing many apple trees along the trip.  But ...I haven't mentioned any fishing -

Upon arrival at area we fished a little brook until we were caught in a fierce downpour and probably left our chairs at that spot because of it!  The first signs that the weather may be a bit "flukey" in the mountains, on a lake!

Next morning, Sunday, August 30, 2020, we set out to our final destination as far as 'home base' is concerned-- The Burkes Cottages,at Indian Lake, Sabael, NY.

I believe we fished somewhere Sunday night-will need to ask hubby !  lol.  But we settled in to Cabin # 2 at the cottages and planned a canoe trip across the Indian Lake the next morning.

The grounds at the cottages, I must mention, were beautiful and beautifully kept.  Simple,  but with my most favorite things--aromatic flowers.  I knew I was in the 'right' place.  "The scent of Heaven, because of Jesus",

Yippee it's a New Year II  continuation of 1/6/15

Last post was a lead into my purchase of Ancestry dna tests, three of them.
I was in love with the Moses Marks branch and was looking forward to a future of bragging about my Mayflower Descendancy.  I was learning from my Aunt Adelaide about the rumor of being from the Mayflower which led me to begin researching this branch.  My father's mother's branch or Addie Wagg, my father's grandmother.

As I've already mentioned- I now have 3 dna tests.  I use one on my 91 year old father's sister, my aunt Adelaide, one for myself, and one for my mother, the other "eldest".

My feet were being held to the fire, so to speak.  There was so much to learn, especially after receiving all the results from Ancestry.  I had already built a substantial 'tree'.  Now, a new learning curve came into play-dna and dna matches, and what does that mean?

YEAH LETS DO PURPLE

Would you believe that little rascal of a girl has a favorite color?  She's 2 and 3/4 and likes PURPLE!  I posted about making Lilly's curtain for her room oh back in 2011 when she was born.

She's such a sweet little rascal.

Her brother Joseph is becoming a 'budding' actor.  So far he has two plays under his belt:
Evita
Frankenstein

And now he's begun rehearsal for A Christmas Carol-  as young Scrooge and Tiny Tim!!

I can't wait to see this new one.

Thank you Lord Jesus for the experiences with my sweet grandchildren.  I am blessed beyond my wildest dreams!!!!

The Craziness of 2019- Me and Stefan

The Larger Enigma

The art of comparing pictures of biological family is real.
This is Alice McCarthy at about 16 years old.  The person on the right is Stefan Antal.  He is probably about 16-17 here.  I see a resemblance but not sure if others do.  These two may share fathers.  Do the pictures appear to be biologically related.  If so, I would say this picture is my 1/2 brother, born just seven months before me on January 3, 1953.

Lots Can Happen in a Short Period of Time

Well this is a jump from "Lots Can Happen"...  I think I've gotten ahead of myself.

This is my grand parents!  I look at her face in this and see myself--- from what I can tell, I look more like her than any of her other grand children.

It is only a small group of us who learn at some later point in life that people that we considered "where we got our..... from" were not really our biological family.  Then there is an even smaller group who have a picture such as this of a couple who you previously would say you knew from Adam...  and now feel as though you look alike----- which could be true given they are in fact your biological family.

So what's to say?  Doesn't matter if you ever knew the facts or not?  True.  But.... you do know- now what?  What to feel?

I've been in tears with the thought, but not entirely sure why I was brought to tears.  Again, I've been thankful to God for how all went down--- how I came to learn.,.... guess really thankful that I had learned who my biological family is.... I could still be searching, as many are.

To be continued....,.

O M G--- Out of a Job or RETIRED

OMG---- Oh My God  or as I still try to say  Oh My Gosh-

You know.... enough of that.  I love my God of the Bible, but I don't have to be shamed into feeling that saying omg means I'm disrespectful of Him.  That's the old fashioned- 'taking God's name in vane.  (is that the correct spelling?)

I haven't blogged since the beginning of this year--- didn't even know how to find this blog- glad I did.  I have some of my most treasured thoughts on here and my poetry.

I am kind of retired.  Let's just say I lost my job at OCML due to their closing, last December (2017).
Yes, I'm feeling fear, sadness, confusion.  Amazed at how this whole age 65 thing worked out so far. Not what I guess I expected.  After all; I was boasting about working until I was 70 years old just last year this time.

Surprise!  I have applied for Social Security after doing what I considered some 'smart' math.  LOL.

If you denote much self questioning, confusing statements here--- that's because,  that's how I feel.
I am having some trouble getting employment in my field of expertise!!!  MLT- Microbiology.  Ha-- just applied to some kind of assistant at Rutgers.  What a drive that could be!   We'll see if I was to get said job......

To be continued....
